ABOUT JUSTIN M.
Total Time : 3800+ hrs. Multi Turbine & 2-Crew: 3500+ hrs. Multi Turbine PIC: 840, Turbojet PIC : 400, Total Jet time : Mechanical EngineeringIn 2018, I quit my engineering career & my home country (Switzerland) to follow through with my plans of becoming a professional pilot in Canada. After completing pilot training, I started working as a cargo agent at Perimeter, loading and unloading boxes into the planes I was planning to fly.Through a lot of hard work and sacrifice, and despite the COVID-19 pandemic hitting aviation hard, I made my way up to a dual-type rated Metroliner II and captain. I ended up flying over 3 years in Northern Canada while being exposed to some of the harshest flying conditions in the world, all the while hand-flying every single flight (no such thing as an autopilot). This created a solid foundation for my flying skills to build upon.My long term goal has always been to bring my Northern flying and interpersonal skills to the jet world. I have made the first step into this successful transition as a direct entry charter captain on the Cessna Citation Ultra/Encore, flying out of Toronto Pearson into much more tropical destinations across North America and the Caribbean. In line with my goals of constantly keeping on growing as a pilot, I have now made the transition to flying a heavy jet in an airline environment with Porter Airlines, flying the beautiful Embraer E195-E2. I’m happy to be contributing to the fastest growing airline in North America and offering Canadians a reliable alternative to the other established names in the industry. My educational background is Mechanical Engineering and I accumulated 3 years of work experience as Mechanical Engineer in sealing & friction applications for the Aerospace, Automotive & Petro-chemical industries, based out of Geneva, Switzerland.
