ABOUT JUSTIN GRANT

Justin\'s experience includes 20 years of leadership roles in some of Canada’s top research and medical institutions such as the University of Toronto (UofT), University Health Network (UHN) and Humber River Health (HRH) as well as executive, director and board level positions for several biopharmaceutical and biotech start-up companies.For 12 years, he served as Staff Scientist and the Research Program Manager of preclinical and clinical cancer research programs for the development of imaging agents, biomarkers, therapeutics and devices at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. He also managed a large imaging centre known as the STTARR Innovation Centre (cellular, preclinical, clinical, computational and pathology cores), and >$100M in research grants while at UHN. He was also involved from their inception, UHN spin out companies, Nanovista Inc. & Companion Health Corp (CHC). As a co-Founder of AI Vali (2017) and Pathomics (2023), which develop AI tools for biomarker detection and analysis, he gained experience with several start-up incubators, accelerators, strategic partners and investors. From 20••••21, Justin was the EVP of Scientific Affairs for the global biopharmaceutical company Avicanna developing and advancing innovative medical cannabis products, clinical trial submissions, grants and education with many leading research institutes.Justin pursued the pharmaceutical development of psilocybin as co-Founder and Chief Scientific Officer for the Psyence Group from 20••••23. He led the company to achieve seed investment, public listing, M&A, joint ventures, subsidiaries, licensed products, a product pipeline, an approved Phase 2 clinical trial, and several publications. Justin gained further experience advancing therapeutics and diagnostics as Director of Technology and Venture Development at Toronto Innovation Acceleration Partners (TIAP). He led the Venture Builder program, providing business and scientific due diligence and achieved investments for TIAP\'s portfolio companies. Justin is currently the VP of Research and Innovation at Humber River Health.Justin held academic appointments at UofT’s Faculty of Pharmacy as Assistant Professor, Instructor at Rotman for Corporate Strategy and currently Adjunct Lecturer in the department of Pharmacology and Toxicology in the Faculty of Medicine. His academic accomplishments includes a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences at UofT. Justin also completed his Executive MBA from UofT\'s Rotman School of Management and was the recipient of the Rotman Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence.
