My role as a scientist in the Regulatory Compliance department of the Irvine Ranch Water District includes conducting both administrative work and field work.Administrative duties in this role deal heavily with numerous permits and regulations under which the Irvine Ranch Water District operates which may include, but are not limited to the following programs: water reclamation, drinking water, hazardous waste, air quality, biosolids. In order to keep up with ever-changing regulations, it is essential to stay organized with regulatory tracking programs. I am responsible for producing regulatory reports as well as maintaining essential documentation. Furthermore, a large part of this role includes the necessity of both internal and external outreach to acquire information.Field work for this position includes sample collection for both regulatory and process control purposes. I am responsible for conducting sample collection for all of the following: potable water, recycled water, wastewater, biosolids, urban runoff, PFAS, and vapor. Such field work requires time management skills as well as sampling integrity to ensure that representative samples are collected for each and every program.
