ABOUT JUSTIN BOURNE

Justin is a Professional Engineer with combined technical expertise in civil engineering, surface water hydrology and groundwater hydrogeology that gives him a rare expertise that can be applied to projects focusing on both surface water and groundwater systems and the interaction between them. Justin\'s technical specialties are mine dewatering, water supply and physical hydrogeology. He has applied his expertise in predicting groundwater inflow and mine dewatering rates, developing post closure pit filling rates and water balance predictions on several projects under variable and extreme climatic and hydrogeological settings. He has extensive experience performing aquifer pumping tests of various scales in challenging environments, including permafrost, remote locations, and under flowing artesian conditions in steep mountainous terrain. As a manager, Justin is responsible for several million dollars annually on projects including hydrogeological, hydrological, geochemical, geotechnical, biological and general environmental disciplines. Recent technical project experience includes the development and testing of a sustainable fresh groundwater supply for a large mine in the Yukon and the development of detailed water balance relationships for two large open pit mines above the Arctic Circle in northern Sweden as part of an intricate coupled physical-chemical pit lake model with a 200-year time scale. Mr. Bourne is a registered Professional Engineer in British Columbia and the Yukon.
