About Christina Ching-Yun Morone
CC is from the Silicon Valley and began her academic career in both the Computer and Biological Sciences. While attending the University of California-Irvine, she served as a campus tour guide, emergency department clinical researcher, student advocate for universal healthcare for Californians and hospital volunteer. She joined Flying Samaritans making monthly trips to a student-run clinic in El Testerazo, Mexico. She was volunteering at Hoag Hospital as a Clinical Care Extender, and helping to organize a yearly medical camp for high school students with UC Irvine CampMed.Upon graduation, she utilized her interests in the high-tech industry and in biological sciences working as a computer programmer/analyst, a design editor for the Western Journal of Emergency Medicine, a research assistant for several multi-center NIH-funded reproductive health clinical trials, and as a research laboratory manager for a developmental cell & biology laboratory; all while continuing to pursue her education in medicine. She also served as a medical assistant for the AmeriCorps-HealthCorps, performing street outreach and providing medical services, harm reduction education, naloxone training, and research for San Francisco’s homeless community from a mobile medical van. She continued advocacy work through Formosa Foundation Ambassador program as well as with the San Francisco Community Clinic Consortium. While pursuing her degree at Quinnipiac University to be a physician assistant, she served as the Physician Assistant Foundation student representative for the Student Academy of AAPA from 20••••11. She participated in two medical service programs in the Dominican Republic, helping to bring basic medical care to impoverished and under-served communities on the island with Health Horizons International. Today, she is practicing in the field of emergency medicine as a Physician Assistant, teaching and researching in point-of-care ultrasound. She is the first physician assistant to have a faculty position at Harvard Medical School as a Teaching Associate and the first Asian American president of the Massachusetts Association of Physician Assistants. She remains committed to serving her community and searching for new ways to be an enagaged citizen.
