ABOUT JURGEN SCHURR
As the Head of Law at Lawyers for Justice in Libya, I lead the legal team in advancing human rights, democracy, and the rule of law in Libya. I have over 17 years of experience as a human rights lawyer, specializing in victims\' rights, accountability, access to justice, and international and regional human rights mechanisms. I have successfully litigated and advocated for human rights cases before various national and international courts and bodies, such as the African Commission on Human and Peoples\' Rights, the UN Human Rights Committee, and the UK Supreme Court. I have also trained and mentored hundreds of lawyers, activists, and civil society organizations on human rights standards and mechanisms, access to justice issues, and universal jurisdiction. In addition, I have extensive management and fundraising skills, having secured and managed large grants from major donors. I have also (co-) authored and edited multiple reports, research, and policy papers on human rights topics, such as victims\' rights, the African human rights system, and the fight against impunity.
