About Junning Sun
I am a co-terminal M.S. student in Industrial & Management Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, concentrating in Operations Research. My work focuses on logistics, computational optimization, and control systems—fields that let me explore how complex systems behave under pressure and how better decisions can be designed within real-world constraints. I am especially interested in building models that do more than look elegant on paper; they need to move, adapt, and deliver results where complexity is unavoidable. After completing my degree, I will pursue a PhD in a related field and continue working at the intersection of theory, systems, and applied decision-making.Outside the classroom, I train in four martial arts to stay grounded, disciplined, and responsive. Across campus, I stay deeply engaged in communities that value leadership, technical curiosity, and action, including the Rensselaer Society of Engineering Innovation (RSEi), RPI Student Senate, RPI Chapter, RPI Boxing, RPI Kendo, RecWell, and the Experiential Learning Forum.
