About Junko E.

I\'m a design leader and UX designer based in Seattle, Washington. I was most recently the UX Manager at Zulily where I led a talented team of designers in our work for customer-facing and enterprise sites, tools and mobile apps. In my six years there, I was able to build a UX team and practice within Zulily, helping to evangelize the merits of UX and bring greater visibility to the work and positive impact of the team. Zulily taught me the importance of partnering across organizational lines to achieve common goals, and I consider myself very fortunate to have worked with so many bright, creative and hard-working people while there. In my 20-some years of experience I\'ve worked at companies large and small, as a contractor then FTE at Microsoft for over ten years, to employee #1 at a tiny design startup, and consulting at a large digital agency, just prior to joining Zulily. Lately, I\'ve enjoyed mentoring and helping teach at the School of Visual Concepts, both to give back to up-and-coming UXers and to keep my own UX knowledge sharp.(Those students are smart and ask really good questions!) Outside of work, you\'ll find me hanging out with my husband and our cats Linus and Lucy, or spending solo time baking, painting or attempting to run-walk around Greenlake.
