San Francisco, CA, US

Earthjustice is the nation’s leading environmental law organization. For 50 years and through 14 presidential administrations, Earthjustice has fought for clean water, clean air, and a healthy environment, winning cases for hundreds of public interest clients across the US and internationally, free of charge.I co-lead the Foundation Relations team in developing outreach strategies to raise 20%-30% of Earthjustice’s annual budget, increasing YoY revenue 15%-20% every year. We’ve established strategic partnerships 80+ foundations, including influential funders like Bloomberg Philanthropies, Hewlett Foundation, Climate Imperative, and Grantham Foundation. Partnering with a small team of writers and our program teams, we develop and produce 150+ carefully crafted grant proposals, reports, and donor/funder communication pieces annually. My responsibilities include long-term strategic planning, portfolio development and direction for every officer, and revenue budgeting. I supervise and mentor 7 program officers regularly advocating for professional development to increase commitment and resiliency within every team member. In partnership with the VP of Development, I’ve developed a Capacity-Building Resource Hub to equip hundreds of partners, clients, and community-led nonprofits with additional support in their development strategies. Expanding upon this effort, I led fundraising to support the Tides Foundation in launching the Frontline Justice Fund, a grant-making program for environmental justice clients involved in legal advocacy.I currently serve on the fundraising committee of the Equitable & Just National Climate Forum.

ABOUT JUNE KATZSCHNER

I have dedicated my career to nonprofit resource development and capacity building to ensure mission-driven NGOs advance their growth and impact goals. Through my years of collaborating across sectors, I have gained a broad and deep understanding of social change models and the ways in which government, philanthropy, and NGOs can create transformative alliances to achieve shared objectives. I enjoy team building and staff development, and my leadership approach leverages talent and experience in Change Management, Strategic Planning, Institutional Partnerships, Portfolio/Grants Management, Grant Advising, and Strategic Communications. My roles at Earthjustice and Women’s Funding Network have provided me with opportunities to expand the capacity of advocacy organizations while building connections with influential ecosystems of changemakers, including foundations, corporate partners, donor advisors, and individual philanthropists. I excel at building internal alliances across organizations, from policy analysts and program managers to senior executives and board members, to advance and scale ambitious initiatives. For the past 7 years, I have co-led development, outreach, and alliance-building efforts with institutional partners for Earthjustice, the premier environmental law firm tackling the most critical issues of our time at the intersection of Public Health, Biodiversity, Climate Crises, and Environmental Justice. We serve over US-based, public-interest clients through 14 offices in the US, including a policy team in Washington, in addition to supporting international partners in South Africa, Indonesia, Mexico, and Australia. My team consistently surpasses development goals, raising 20%-30% of the organization’s 9-figure budgets. While raising funds for Earthjustice, I helped develop a capacity-building hub for grassroots groups and serve as an advisor on philanthropic resources, communications, and fundraising/development initiatives. Our resource hub provides a full-range of tailored development support to 30+ environmental justice groups annually.
