ABOUT JULIO RENÉ FLORES

Dr. Julio R Flores has over 9 years of experience in community college counseling programs and currently serves as Dean of Counseling & Support Services at Santa Rosa Junior College. Prior to SRJC, he was a tenured faculty member in the Counseling Department at Rio Hondo College. He has also served as an adjunct faculty member teaching graduate students in educational counseling programs at USC, University of La Verne, and CSU Dominguez Hills.Dr. Flores adheres to a Gestalt counseling approach. At the core of gestalt therapy is the holistic view that people are intricately linked to and influenced by their environments and that all people strive toward growth and balance. When he is not working, he enjoys frequentingthe gym, or climbing rolling hills on his road bike. Dr. Flores received his bachelor’s in communications from Cal Poly Pomona in 2013, master’s in educational counseling from the USC in 2015 and completed his doctorate at Cal State Long Beach in 2020.
