Retired October May of 2019 my rank status within the West Chicago Police Department was changed from the rank of Commander to Deputy Chief. With the rank of Deputy Chief the added responsibility is now overseeing the Support Services division as well as the rest of the Department. The Support Services Division includes: 1 Sergeant, 1 Evidence Custodian, 1 Training Coordinator, 1 Community Relations Officer, 3 Records Clerks and 1 Social Services employee. My new assignment will still report directly to the Chief of Police and will also continue to actively participate in the management of the entire Department. In August of 2017 I was promoted to the position of Commander of Operations, which is second in command to the Chief of Police. My responsibilities include; coordinating the day to day operations for the Patrol division, which includes 4 Sergeants and 30 Officers, the Investigations unit, which includes 1 Detective Sergeant, 4 Detectives and 3 School Resource Officers and coordinate the daily responsibilities for 3 Community Service Officers. I am responsible for maintaining the daily schedule, Investigate all citizen complaints, the quartermaster system for uniforms,the functionality of special programs, which include Evidence Technician, Field Training, Traffic Enforcement and the Firearms Unit. My duties also include meeting with other department heads and city officials, payroll, preparing and reviewing of monthly and annual reports, maintaining and assisting with the preparation of the annual budget, preparing and reviewing of grants and the continuous development of maintaining our Departments Accreditation through Illinois Association of the Chief of Police (ILEAP). A large part of the job and duties are to ultimately make sure the Department, the City and the Citizens of West Chicago are provided with the best services and resources made available to them.
