Smith Hamilton was founded in 2014 as a boutique firm focused on corporate and commercial law, with expertise in fund management and advising senior executives, shareholders and entrepreneurs.In 2023, the firm became part of MEUM Group, a multidisciplinary platform supporting ultra-high-net-worth individuals, their families and their businesses. During this period, our practice broadened significantly to include family, private client, education, charities and regulatory work, employment, and dispute resolution.The law firm is now building on that growth to operate independently once again under the Smith Hamilton name from March 2026. This transition reflects a natural progression in our growth and allows us to focus fully on delivering an integrated legal service under a single specialist brand, while retaining the expanded expertise developed over recent years.For our clients, it remains very much business as usual – the same team, the same relationships, and an even broader depth of capability.

ABOUT JULIE TAYLOR
I am a children, family and divorce solicitor. I help individuals consciously uncouple as amicably as possible, but I also have a wealth of experience in uncoupling which is not so easy where there is high conflict, a controlling partner and sadly domestic abuse.I endeavour to be a kind and reassuring support to the people I meet. Often, I meet people when they are at their lowest and in the most difficult times in their lives. I offer a kind, realistic and pragmatic approach to a resolution.I work collaboratively with therapists, divorce coaches, counsellors, family consultants, financial planners, accountants and pension experts to provide a holistic approach. I find this provides the best outcome from a financial and emotional perspective.I work with high and ultra-high net worth individuals, international clients, founders and entrepreneurs, professionals, celebrities and sportspeople.Before becoming a solicitor I had a previous career in the IT and financial sectors and my business knowledge helps me to understand the complexities that can arise when sharing assets.I am a qualified Collaborative Family Lawyer and I promote a resolution away from the court process. I am equally prepared to take a case to court if this is necessary and I specialise in high conflict divorces.I am a member of Resolution, the national organisation for family lawyers and professionals who work with families and individuals to resolve problems in a constructive way.I live in Kent with my family and our lovely dogs.
