WORK HISTORY
Social Impact Manager @Marriott International
Bethesda, MD, US
I lead Marriott\'s internal communications to drive employee volunteerism at 9,500+ hotels to achieve corporate social impact goals. This includes bringing on new nonprofit partners to match corporate philanthropy with community needs around the world, developing and deploying strategies (internal toolkits, competitions, training webinars, etc.) that empower employees to make a difference in their communities, and helping to tell Marriott\'s ESG success stories through annual reporting and external sustainability recognition applications. To do this, I have to constantly monitor Marriott\'s social impact metrics and goal progress. These metrics are increasingly critical to support sales, retention, and organic growth. My role requires managing complex projects, engaging many global and transversal teams, as well as influencing executives to prioritize ESG perspectives and needs. I also manage Marriott\'s internal database for tracking community service work, hospitality industry advocacy, and corporate culture programs going on at 9,500+ hotels around the world. I analyze the quantitative global volunteerism and charitable giving data logged in the database and present results in a visually compelling and comprehensible manner through scorecards, dashboards, and infographics. This work supports the social impact/sustainability, government affairs, and culture teams at Marriott\'s headquarters and contributes significantly to quarterly reports for senior leaders as well as the company\'s annual ESG report. I liaise with the in-house IT team and an outside software developer to continuously update and improve the database, which is used by all Marriott associates. I train new users via webinars and job aids throughout the year. One of the things I\'m most proud of is inventing an 8-point data auditing protocol and annual data reconciliation process to increase data accuracy. This resulted in a 9% increase in reported global volunteerism totals from 2018 to 2019.
