ABOUT JULIEN ROTH
I am Senior Scientist at Genentech working within Safety Assessment to develop novel in vitro models of human neural tissues. The successful creation and implementation of these models requires advances from a range of fields, including stem cell neurobiology, biomaterials, microfluidics, and automation, to come together synergistically. Prior to starting at Genentech, I worked at the interface between bioengineering, computational biology, and stem cell biology to create biomimetic models of human brain development and disease. I leveraged techniques including hiPSC differentiation, neural organoid fabrication, 3D bioprinting, biomaterials engineering, and next generation sequencing. I also developed new approaches and platforms within the tissue engineering field and am included as an author/inventor in several manuscripts/patents describing their application.
