The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is a major state agency responsible for maintaining one of the nation’s largest transportation networks. Nearly 5,000 ODOT employees carry out a wide range of responsibilities, including: • Infrastructure Maintenance & Construction – upkeep of highways, bridges, and roadways statewide • Traffic Management – oversee traffic flow, advisories, and statewide operations. • Snow & Ice Operations – ensure road safety during winter weather. • Communications – keep the public informed via traffic advisories, online tools, and real-time updates. • Business & Contracting – manage heavy highway bid opportunities, consultant services, manuals, and permits ODOT is led by a Director with cabinet-level authority. Its organizational structure includes divisions dedicated to engineering, field operations, planning, policy, workforce development, construction, finance, information technology, human resources, communications, and executive affairs. Together, these teams work to deliver a transportation system that meets the needs of Ohio’s traveling public.
