ABOUT JULIE KUSIEK

With over a decade of experience in community building and advocacy at the municipal level, I continue to look for opportunities to collaborate with great people to make great things happen. Past projects have had a city-wide impact, including a new model for Edmonton\'s neighbourhood renewal program for more walkable, bikeable, liveable streets, lowering residential speed limits, city budget story-telling, and ongoing advocacy to pilot small-scale, community recreation centres and many years of community advocacy to keep Scona Pool\'s doors open as long as possible. Being on a variety of volunteer boards for about a decade has also provided opportunity to create a more welcoming, healthy and connected community. I firmly believe in the power of regular neighbours to make a difference for their communities, and in the importance of working together to build a city that is inclusive of people of all ages and abilities. In my role as a Trustee and Board Chair of Edmonton Public Schools, it\'s an honour to serve and promote the role that public education has in uplifting students, in turn benefiting our entire community.
