ABOUT JULIE SCHOEN MORGAN

I am a State and Local Tax (SALT) senior manager in BDO’s national specialty tax services group, located in West Michigan. I joined BDO in July of 2013 and have more than 15 years of public accounting experience. My clients have included both public and private companies, including pass through entities and their shareholders, almost all of which have business activity in multiple states.I utilize project management tools and effectively communicate with clients and team members to ensure timely and organized delivery of projects. Although my focus is income/franchise tax, I have experience in sales/use, property, and payroll taxes. I have multi-state experience in completing income/franchise and sales/use tax nexus reviews; managing voluntary disclosure programs; reviewing state and local tax returns; researching complex income/franchise and sales/use tax issues; and consulting with clients on the state tax implications of mergers and acquisitions. I also spent time working on the federal tax side in return compliance for individuals, partnerships, and corporations.I believe in and support BDO’s Women’s Initiative and Flex strategies by mentoring staff and seniors to work towards the next level in their career, actively speaking with them about the importance of managing workloads, and encouraging them to schedule and take PTO.
