About Julieanne King

I am a User Experience (UX) Researcher with a focus on Accessibility and Usability. I champion Digital Inclusion and Equity. I follow my passion for enhancing the human experience by bridging the unmet needs of end-users with the innovative potential of the design and development teams. My curious journey to UX began with my grandparents. My grandfather was a renaissance man, an engineer-fabricator of parts-no-longer-made, and an active supporter of the space program, my grandmother a teacher. They instilled in me a curiosity to ask questions about my world. As I looked at the tools and tech around me I ask myself. Does this make sense? Is it easy to use or figure out? Do the actions and processes flow naturally in a way to get the job done quickly and easily? If the answer was no, how might I assist in improving the experience? As I grew up, with each purchase decision I’ve made and activity I have participated in, I have continued to ask these questions and act upon the answers. Ultimately, this led me to a Master\'s of Science in Information Studies - UX. As part of your UX and Accessibility team, I would bring energy and curiosity along with research skills to uncover the ‘what?’ (Quantitative) and ‘why?’ (Qualitative) of users\' behavior, and to identify their unmet needs. Collaboration and teamwork are my happy places! My Process: Understanding the ‘As Is’ (departments/stakeholder side), finding the gaps (research, observation, contextual inquiry, interviews), grasping the experience from the user groups side (internal or external -customers) with an eye to and a voice for Digital Inclusion. Then using the information gathered to discern appropriate additional research and testing, the results of which position the design and development teams to successfully craft useful products. I have previously worked in non-traditional education and numerous community-wide volunteer activities, taking on both support and leadership roles. These populations were diverse and multicultural, children through adults. These activities further developed my soft-skills set. Knowledge sharing is my thing!
