About Julie Sullivan

Accomplished business development executive with over 15 years of demonstrated success in negotiating and securing partnership and sponsorship opportunities for organizations and their events. Strategic sales executive with award winning results in organizational leadership and building and nurturing teams. My focus has been growing the bottom line for global organizations and establishing and cultivating relationships on their behalf. My background includes selling out an inaugural tradeshow in 8 months (The Hospitality Show), bringing two back-to-back shows from Pandemic attendee and exhibitor lows (Live Design International and Digital Signage Experience), leading and developing a grass roots start-up (AWE), changing the perception and portfolio of exhibit and support opportunities of a well-established association (ASIS International), and managing exhibit sales and a first timer program for a hundred-year-old, 38 million-dollar global amusements and attractions association (IAAPA). Prior to joining the IAAPA team, I worked for an event management organization (SPARGO, Inc.) and was the lead for event sales for 5 different medical shows throughout the Washington, DC metro area (ASH, AOA, NMA, SSO, and the AANP). One of my greatest joys was serving on the leadership team for the Association for Women in Events (AWE). I began my journey with AWE in 2015 serving on the global founding board and working side by side with so many talented people from every facet of the events industry. That board and executive team developed every aspect of the organization including its mission statement, by-laws, budget, fundraising and grants, membership and sponsorship structures, committees, task forces, industry awards, programming, events, marketing, branding, business plan, and public relations. One of the most rewarding things I did on a regular basis while at AWE was asking women of all backgrounds, cultures and ages to accept a role and serve our community, create a blossoming organizational culture, devise unique, meaningful programming, and LEAD. Through hard work and sheer determination, our organization took off and gained momentum. By 2019, we had over 500 members supporting the mission to empower and elevate women and men in the events industry.
