I am a trial and appellate (Supreme Court) lawyer, who pivoted to be a General Counsel in 2007. I am business-minded, with deep expertise in AI including machine learning/ NLP and analytics. In most cases, my two strategic legal and business priorities are to:(a) make a company more predictive; and (b) to increase speed to revenue. I have spent over seventeen years as a Chief Legal Officer/ General Counsel and a Chief Business, Security and Compliance Officer. This extensive background encompasses both fast paced emerging SAAS based IT ventures and public companies.Since 2007, my professional experience has revolved around AI, and the associated intellectual property, privacy and compliance concerns that arise with AI in various industries on a National and global level. This interest in driving data transparency and usefulness led me to co- found Thematically, an NLP and analytics company that started in 2016, which achieved a successful exit on 3/3/2020. LEGAL EXPERTISE/SKILLS OVERVIEW (NATIONAL/GLOBAL): • Negotiating agreements and designing agreement templates, for internal and for third parties as required. Some of these agreements specifically include, but are not limited to, SAAS agreements, technology subscription agreements, licensing agreements, support and compliance agreements, third party vendor agreements, security agreements, and cloud services agreements. • Managing all aspects of compliance and privacy in heavily regulated industries-with an emphasis on data and data ownership/ rights/ use and IP. • Handling corporate transactional work, including but not limited to exits, mergers, acquisitions, asset purchase agreements, fund raises, creating international sub corporations, and fundraising, etc. I have also been a Strategic Advisor to Springboard Enterprises, as well as to their women led portfolio companies, for almost a decade. My emphasis has been on strategy, operations, risk management, growth and AI/ML.
