ABOUT JULIE P.

During my long and full HR career at ECMWF spanning three decades, I was fortunate to have worked alongside and supported some of the most talented experts in their fields of expertise. In late 2022, I embarked on a new journey with the Citizens Advice as a volunteer (adviser) and have found this new challenge both mentally stimulating and hugely rewarding. Whether it’s providing help online, over the telephone or face-to-face meetings with clients on a wide range of topics such as benefits, employment, debt and money, consumer issues, family matters, housing, law and courts, immigration and health, every client matters and is helped to face their problems to find a way forward. In August 2023, I was offered and accepted a role as a Debt Adviser (Henley office) which involves working closely with clients to help them with their financial difficulties, presenting the options including the pros and cons of each option, explaining the implications of non-payment of their debts, taking action of any emergencies, setting up Breathing Space if required, negotiating with and challenging creditors if appropriate, budget planning, maximising income and empowering clients to take ownership to make informed choices.
