ABOUT JULIE LAMOTHE

As a Clinical Associate Professor of Nursing at IU School of Nursing and the Director for Faculty Development and Engagement for the IU Interprofessional Practice and Education Center, I focus on education, service, and research. Areas of expertise include collaborative practice, childhood obesity, and evidence-based practice Increasing the number of emerging nurse leaders in both acute care and rural health care is important to me. In my role, I mentor emerging nurse leaders to function to the highest level of their educational preparation. Supporting and sharing knowledge with nurses about effective teamwork and collaborative practice is a personal goal of mine. As a clinical expert and Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, I use my skills based on the evidence to care for complex pediatric patients and children with obesity. Skilled in multidisciplinary teamwork, I collaborate with clinical decision-making and mutual support. Clinical leadership requires a variety of skills, including physical assessment, goal setting, chronic illness management, motivational interviewing, family and patient teaching I disseminate research and expand my scholarship through oral presentations, publications and continuing education. As a candidate for the Doctorate of Nursing (DNP) program and a teaching certification, I demonstrate high achievement and goal setting. Being open to future opportunities, I look forward to future leadership, practice, and research and education experiences.
