ABOUT JULIE KENT
Launched my biggest fundraising challenge yet to raise £500k to fund a psychologist on the Emily Kent Unit in Gloucestershire Hospital. Emily, my daughter died at the age of 3 from a brain tumour & I am going to raise £500k in one year to fund psychological support for 10 years for the 37 children having cancer treatment at the moment & their families Experienced Trustee with a demonstrated history of working in the non-profit organisation managing events, teams & fundraising and awarded an MBE in the Queens Birthday Honours list in October 2020. Named as one of the 50 Greatest Women in Gloucestershire, Top 100 Women in the West and in 2018 gained the Most Outstanding Woman in the Charitable Sector in the West. Spent from 2020 heading up the fundraising at The Pied Piper Appeal voluntarily and led the team to raise over £400k in 2022, their 30th year. Has also led Cheltenham Open Door through the pandemic, grown the staff team and led them to a new building where the charity will be able to offer the Guests more services. Hosted a podcast called \'What\'s in the Goody Bag?\' interviewing successful people & discovering what they have done for others to make a difference. All are asked to donate something into the goody bag which is raffled or auctioned in aid of The Pied Piper Appeal. On hold at the mo whilst hosting a weekly radio show on Severn FM, community radio chatting to local personalities in all walks of life around their 7 song choices. Retired from being a Housemistress at Dean Close for over 20 years in July 2020 specialising in teenagers coping with life! and a teacher at Dean Close for 30 years. Good with communication in all forms, with people of all ages and with varying academic and personal needs. I am a passionate public speaker, an experienced networker, have excellent people skills with empathy for all around me in whatever sphere. I work tirelessly to promote the charities and organisations I am involved with from education to my favourite retailers, charities and organisations that I deal with. I move in a varied set of social circles and could broaden the profile of a business or product. I am looking for opportunities to give lively, interesting and passionate talks about turning a negative into a positive, what to look for in choosing a COTY and how good it is to GIVE. Having raised hundreds of thousands for local charities I have a passion for keeping the money I raise LOCAL! I have lots to say about more or less everything from charities, age, style, giving and living with 60 teenage girls for 20 years!
