About Julie Edwards

Julie is currently a Senior Sustainability Consultant with Mead & Hunt. She has over twenty years of experience in the sustainable design field and is familiar with ENERGY STAR, Green Communities, WELL, EcoDistricts, Green Star, Envision, and many of the LEED rating systems, including LEED for Neighborhood Development. Several of her past projects have earned a LEED Platinum rating, the highest achievable rating. Her project experience includes leading charrettes, providing sustainable design strategies, reviewing drawings/specifications, writing green marketing pieces, product submittal review, documentation, and coordinating the design team throughout the certification process. Julie has experience in compliance with federal, state and local sustainability mandates and proficiency in writing sustainability guidelines and policy. Julie is involved in a variety of project types including multi-family housing, office buildings, municipal, and educational facilities. She is a LEED AP with BD+C specialty, and while her background is architectural, her experience goes beyond the typical design and construction projects to include services such as city planning, design guidelines, educational materials, case studies, facility staff training and coordination of sustainable facility management programs. A self-starter, Julie co-founded the Sustainable Design Committee at OZ Architecture and served as Director of Sustainability for many years. Julie provides green educational programs for staff, project support and tools, authors green programs/ policies for the office and provides research/outreach to clients and the community. Julie is a strong supporter of local sustainability organizations and a leader in the industry. She regularly serves on local ULI Healthly Places Technical Assistance Panels which provide free planning assistance to local cities and organizations. She is a current Board Member for USGBC Colorado where she also participates in the Colorado Education Committee. Past roles with the USGBC have included the Regional Task Force for proposing new regional LEED credits and the Chapter Events Committee. Julie was on the planning committee for Greenbuild 2006 in Denver, heading up the Local Focus Committee and the Greening Colorado Challenge. She is also a co-author of several chapters of the Sustainable Design Resource Guide with AIA Denver COTE. She has authored articles for local publications, led project tours and been a speaker for regional conferences.
