About Julie Brown

I\'m passionate about making the world a better place, and I believe that gathering and using data, and getting to know people and their needs, wants, and struggles is a great way to achieve that. In years of UX research work, I’ve used a variety of qualitative and quantitative UX research methods. I’m always eager to find the right methods to support each project’s goals and constraints, including learning new methods or creating innovative solutions to support each research need. I also do volunteer research work on the side for non-profit and advocacy groups, and have done dance research as part of my hobby/side-passion. In all my research positions, I’ve worked closely with a mix of product managers, UX designers, writers, engineers, senior leadership, and/or other stakeholders to ensure research is relevant, timely, and leads to actionable outcomes at all levels of business. I\'ve worked with Agile teams for much of my UX research career (and the various degrees of Agile adoption that exist). I\'m an effective communicator, with a B.A. in Professional Writing from Carnegie Mellon University. I also have 15+ years of teaching experience, teaching dance classes to teens & adults of all ages and experience levels, in class sizes ranging from 5-100+ people, locally and internationally. Locally, I lead the team of teachers that teaches at two venues-mentoring, training, managing logistics, and facilitating skill-building. I co-wrote our local curriculum and teacher training program.
