Conduct design reviews from early component selection to final design.• Assess new and established components for temperature limits, package style, ESD rating, moisture sensitivity, water and solvent compatibility, and assembly requirements, ensuring compatibility with design intent and guidelines.• Review final design of Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs), recommend design features and changes to achieve the highest possible yield, reliability, and lowest cost. Determine necessary processes and tooling for manufacturing completion.• Collaborate with contract manufacturers to finalize assembly processes ensuring adherence to industry, internal, and contract manufacturing guidelines. Ensure that all processes are transferable overseas to High Volume Manufacturing (HVM) sites.• Monitor first builds, utilizing Plan-Do-Check-Adjust (PDCA) and other problem-solving methodology to resolve manufacturing issues. Convene weekly with contract manufacture to stabilize the assembly process during New Product Introduction (NPI) builds, determine root causes for faults and implementing corrective actions.• Identify areas of opportunity in the design of the PCBA and provide feedback to the design team for consideration. • Meet weekly with internal project core team to track progress on process and design improvements.• Oversee transfer of processes, tooling, software, and lessons learned to HVM site. Support first high volume builds then hand off to sustaining engineering team with their approval.• Evaluate and select new capital equipment.• Work with manufacturers to develop custom components and meet industry, internal, and contract manufacturing requirements.• Design, and execute experimental builds to evaluate new technology, changes to industry/internal standards, chemistries, equipment, etc.• Report status of project, capital equipment selection, experimental builds, etc. to a broad team of multi-discipline audience.
