About Julia Hedges
Julia is an instructor at the International English Center at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Withmore than 15 years of global educational experience, she has taught ESL/EFL in the United States and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Julia has trained teachers, in seven countries, on techniques fordelivering their English language programs using the communicative methodology. She successfullyfounded, managed, and sold an English language and training center in Dubai, UAE. She has also servedon the Colorado TESOL board, presented at professional conferences (national and international)including, CoTESOL, EnglishUSA, and TESOL Arabia in Dubai, UAE, and acted as an EL Specialist with the U.S. Department of State’s English Language Program where she delivered teacher training to educators and students throughout Northeastern Brazil. Some of Julia’s professional interests include understanding the language barriers between leaders and followers that can impede communication, fostering cultural intelligence, creating student-driven classrooms, and using technology to engage participants.
