About Julia Dodd

Rooted in the humble values I learned growing up in a small country community and with more than 20 years of leadership experience in law, healthcare, risk management and business development, I am known for my partnership within the Dallas community and beyond. Most recently I have served as Vice President for Lockton Dunning Benefits and hold multiple degrees — Juris Doctorate from Southern Methodist University, MBA from Texas Woman’s University, BS in Pharmacy from University of Texas Austin and BS from University of Tennessee. Additionally, I have studied internationally at Oxford-University College. Advocacy for those in need is the cornerstone of my professional and personal goals. I am the co-founder of Women in the Know, a C-suite women’s networking group dedicated to bringing awareness and action for local Dallas community charities and needs, and through Women in the Know, I am learning how to help further impact change in our communities. I also served on the board of AVANCE, a national organization working to serve families in need. LegalHealthcare Law Section Head & Partner in major Dallas law firms representing hospital corporations, national managed care corporations, local not-for-profit hospital corporations, and physicians. Headed Dodd and Associates, representing the two large for-profit hospital corporations, a national managed care corporation, a local not-for-profit corporation, insurance companies, and physicians insured by the companies. Created a team effective in decreasing the risk of financial exposure.Risk ConsultingPart of a team focused on risk analysis of healthcare groups and facilities, contracted with the two largest cardiac surgery and cardiology groups in North Texas. The team reviewed policies, corporate documents, procedures, and processes. Advised clients as to risk management, peer review, compliance with state and federal laws as well as statutory requirements. Also made suggestions as to peer review process, quality assurance process and human resource processes.Marketing/LobbyingServed on the team for the Coalition for Affordable and Reliable Healthcare (CARH), leading the grassroots effort for both state and federal tort reform, including passing tort reform that resulted in a 90% decrease in medical malpractice litigation in Texas. Served on an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) company focused on implementing EMR in various state/federal government and private businesses. Helped to obtain investors for the corporation and negotiate terms of the financial arrangements for the investments received.
