ABOUT JULIA STANTON
I am a passionate, driven graduate from Emerson College with a major in Political Communication and a minor in Nonprofit Management. Currently, I am located in Washington, D.C, working in the office of Congresswoman Chellie Pingree (ME-01).In my role as Staff Assistant, I managed a team of interns and commanded the front office. That hard work paid off, earning me a promotion to Legislative Correspondent and the Education, Trade, Labor, Family and Children, and Women’s Rights portfolios. I have loved being the point person on my team for these important issues; I conduct policy research, recommend bills, and take meetings on behalf of my Member with organizations ranging from global to nationwide to state and community based. In addition, I respond to hundreds of constituent inquiries and comments a week, and manage a robust letter program. My experience in Rep. Pingree’s office has further motivated me towards a career in progressive policy, and provided me with a wealth of experience in managing others. Much of my professional experience has involved advocating for issues that are important to me, such as affordable healthcare, environmental justice and climate mitigation, reproductive rights, and access to quality education. I\'ve led a team doing grassroots community outreach for a local climate action plan, coordinated training, lobbying, and outreach events with Planned Parenthood, and strengthened the social media strategy for a Boston nonprofit offering a second chance at college to BPS graduates.
