ABOUT JULIA LONEY

Julia Loney is a Partner in the Regulatory and Environmental practice groups in McMillan\'s Calgary office. Her regulatory practice focuses on a broad range of matters, including representing clients on a variety of transactions and commercial matters, assisting businesses with negotiating and drafting contracts and agreements, acting for clients with corporate governance and compliance matters, and providing strategic regulatory advice concerning consumer issues, energy and natural resources projects, rail transportation, and agri-food and agriculture. In her environmental and climate change practice, she advises clients on the federal, provincial and municipal environmental and climate change regulatory and policy frameworks and developments. She is highly knowledgeable about hazardous waste disposal and clean-up issues, including responsibility for remediation costs of contaminated sites, reporting and disclosure by private and public corporations and government entities, project development, permitting and regulatory approvals, and legal risk mitigation. Julia completed her Master of Laws degree in Natural Resources, Energy and Environmental Law. She furthered her education at the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, where she completed the Business Leadership for Women Lawyers program. She is vice-chair of the Waste and Resource Recovery Committee (Section for Environment, Energy and Resources) of the American Bar Association and the Alberta Director of the Canadian Transport Lawyers\' Association (CTLA). She is also an active volunteer in her community through various alumni and sports organizations and committees and previously served as a director of the Bow Habitat Station Volunteer Society and the Schizophrenia Society of Alberta.
