ABOUT JULIA K.

Julia Kennedy is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist at Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan, CT. She provides psychodynamic therapy and psychological assessments in the residential and inpatient programs. She is also in private practice, accepting in-person clients in New Canaan, CT and virtual clients in NY and other participating PSYPACT states. She received her PhD in Clinical Psychology at the New School for Social Research in New York. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship and predoctoral internship in the Department of Psychiatry at Mount Sinai Behavioral Health Center (formerly Beth Israel). She has extensive psychodynamic clinical training in individual, couple, family and group psychotherapy as well as specialized training in evidence-based, trauma-focused treatment for individuals diagnosed with PTSD and complex trauma. These include Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). Julia is also experienced in cognitive and personality psychological assessment and consultation, specifically for individuals with ADHD, learning disabilities and substance use disorders.In addition to her training as a clinician, her research focuses on using cognitive neuroscience techniques to understand the underlying mechanisms of PTSD. Specifically, though the study of autobiographical memory, future self continuity and self-efficacy she is interested in finding innovative and preventative strategies for traumatic stress related disorders.
