Unit 56 Neurology medical/surgical is a 24-bed inpatient unit of the Shands Heart Vascular and Neuromedicine Hospital. Patients are admitted for treatment of neurologic disorders/diagnoses such as ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, seizure disorders, and cardio/vascular step-down- Some skills I perform as a PCA are I&O catheters, removing IV’s, taking vital signs, assisting with ADL’s, mobility, and hygiene- I have floated to other units of Shands including: Adult Emergency Department (94 hours), Trauma, Orthopedics, Oncology, Urology, Cardiology, and ICU/IMC- I am proficient in using Epic, the electronic health record.
