About Julia Pavlov
Hi! My name is Julia Pavlov and I am a second year Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering major at Northeastern University with minors in Mathematics and Spanish. My senior year of high school I took an Honors Biotechnology course where I learned basic laboratory techniques, including aseptic technique, media preparation, culture inoculation, gel electrophoresis, SDS-PAGE, PCR, qPCR, ELISA, Southern blotting, and CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing, which sparked my initial interest for biotech and bioengineering. During my first year as an engineering student, I took the GE1501 & GE1502 Cornerstone of Engineering course sequence where I learned vital engineering skills, including engineering ethics and principles, C++, AutoCAD, Solidworks, MATLAB, Excel, Arduino, and the engineering design process through creation of semester projects. I also have further technical experience in C, Python, SQL, and Javascript with CSS and HTML through completion of Harvard University\'s CS50x Introduction to Computer Science course. I further developed my lab skills in the BIOE2365 Bioengineering Measurement, Experimentation, and Statistics course, and through wet lab research with the iGem synthetic biology competition team, with which we won a Silver Medal and Best Conservation Project award at the 2025 annual iGem competition in Paris.Outside of my academics, I am heavily involved in Northeastern\'s Alpha Tau chapter of the Phi Sigma Rho sorority for women and non-binary individuals in engineering, taking on the role of Vice President of Finance for the next year! I am also a member of the Society of Women Engineers, Biomedical Engineering Society, American Institute for Chemical Engineering, and Sigma Delta Pi National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society. Otherwise, I love spending my free time dancing, drawing and painting, exploring Boston, attending concerts, practicing my Spanish, and spending time with family! I am a very motivated and self-driven person with a passion for seeking out new knowledge, obtaining new skills, and becoming as involved in the activities I devote my time to as I can!
