HEART UK - The Cholesterol Charity is the only UK charity dedicated to supporting people with high cholesterol. We are passionate about preventing early deaths caused by high cholesterol. Heart disease remains the UK\'s biggest killer and cholesterol is one of the biggest risk factors. 6 out of every 10 people in the UK have high cholesterol. It is a silent killer and often the first sign is a fatal heart attack. It needs to be taken seriously, whether it\'s inherited high cholesterol or non inherited. HEART UK can provide expert support, guidance and education to people with high cholesterol, their familes and health care professionals. We lobby for better detection and treatment of high cholesterol conditions. In particular, FH (inherited high cholesterol), this is so worrying because people can die so young and yet, when identified it is treatable and they can then live a long and healthy life. We strive to idendify those people with the condition, there are around people in the UK that have the condition and 80-90% remain unidentified.
