I am one of the co-owners of Shepa Learning Company (shepa is the Tibetan word for awareness). We provide training to corporations, government, associations, students and women’s groups in the skills of networking, social intelligence, and communication. We focus on both bonding within the organization as well as learning the skills of bridging to the community. We help people to become better connectors, remove the anxiety around networking and conversation, and develop strategies to build supportive networks, and it’s all based on a philosophy of networking that’s been called “the world’s best definition” — Positive Networking®. We back up our tried-and-true tools and techniques with the latest research and powerful storytelling.

ABOUT JUDY THOMSON
I am a co-author of two books on business and social networking titled, WORK THE POND! published by Penguin Prentice Hall USA and The Frog and Prince: Secrets of Positive Networking to change your life (Self-published). I had the pleasure of writing these books with my business partner Gayle Hallgren. These books have been translated and published in China, Russia and Korea.I started my career as a chartered accountant and then transitioned into the human resources and administrative areas. I was part of the start-up management team of the world famous Rocky Mountaineer Railtours as the company\'s first Director of Customer Service. After three years of riding a train through the beautiful Canadian Rockies, I was recruited by a global accounting and consulting firm to become their director of administration and human resources in Hong Kong for an office of 800 employees. I lived there for almost five years, before and after the handover to China. It was an amazing experience.With my business partner, GayleHallgren, I have spent the last 20 years teaching the skills of networking and communication to corporate clients, professionals, business associations, women’s networks, university students, and individuals through our company Shepa Learning Company. Shepa is a Tibetan term for consciousness or awareness. And that’s our goal, to raise people’s awareness of the opportunities around them every day to build their network, one of the most valuable assets they have in their life.
