About Judy Pecoraro
I grew up in the Tampa Bay Area of Florida and has worked in the mental health and substance abuse field for over 20 years. She holds a Master of Science Degree in Human Services with a concentration in Mental Health Counseling from Springfield College and is a National Certified Gambling Counselor-II. I believe that every individual is unique, their own person and treats each person as an individual. She does not use a cookie cutting approach. Judy will offer you a complimentary telephone consultation. In your first appointment she will complete an Initial assessment to discuss your concerns, identify your goals, explore your strengths, and establish an individualized plan for treatment. My various counseling approaches include you and her working together to find ways to make your life more fulfilling and enjoyable. I specialize in helping individuals to effectively communicate in relationships, strengthen self-esteem, decrease anxiety, depression, anger management and educating individuals in effective parenting skills. Other areas of expertise include child, adolescent and women\'s issues, addictions (chemical dependency and Gambling), family counseling, codependency, cross cultural issues, fears/phobias, chronic illness, GLBTQI, and Life Coaching. I spent numerous years working in the Pinellas County school system. She has been published in Counselor Magazine, was the President of the Clearwater, Florida Jaycee’s (Junior Chamber of Commerce) and Secretary for Positive Expressions in Gulfport, Florida. She has been recognized for her work in fundraising for Domestic Violence and HIV. She has served on the Members Advisory Board of SunServe Meth for Men in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and was a member of the South Florida Crystal Meth Task Force. For the past four years, I have been co-owner of New Friendships Sober Living in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Since May 2012, I have been an Adjunct Professor at Springfield College in Tampa, Florida.
