I am a tireless advocate for creating more sustainable communities that successfully address the environmental, economic and social problems of our day. Water availability is and will continue to be a major concern in California, thus I currently have a special focus on furthering groundwater recharge. I founded and have retired from the Local Government Commission after 35 years as Executive Director.I recently received a lifetime achievement award from the League of California Cities. Others awards of which I am very proud are two National Planning Awards from the American Institute of Planning, one for Public Education and and the other for Distinguished Leadership.A co-founder of the Village Homes 60 acre/250 home, mixed-use, community in Davis, I authored a book about the project titled,\"Sustainable Communities, Learning from Village Homes.\" After 20 years, it is still on the market.
