About Judson Marte
I’m Jud Marte, the SVP of Engineering at MP Materials. Our mission at MP Materials is to bring the entirety of the rare earth supply chain back to the United States. My role in this mission is to turn the rare earth minerals from our Mountain Pass Mine into rare earth products to electrify the world, reduce green house gases, and make a sustainable future for the world. My technical expertise was earned developing magnetic materials, nanocrystalline alloys, titanium alloys and intermetallics, corrosion-resistant steels, refractory metal alloys, and superconductors for demanding applications in aerospace, medical imaging, energy, and consumer products. My materials manufacturing background spans everything from primary alloy production, to rolling, forging, and extrusion, to investment casting…and that’s just the metals. I’ve made single crystal castings, ceramic matrix composite turbine blades, and metal injection molded watchcases. If I haven’t made it, I know someone who does. I’m a technically-adroit scientist who also “peoples” well. I’ve led multi-disciplinary, multi-company teams for demanding customers, and provided the technical infrastructure needed for startups to mature…and I’ve loved every minute of it.I have been fortunate to have had challenging assignments throughout my career. My experiences have broadened my technical expertise and honed my communications and project management skills…and fueled my passion for technology.
