Judith Santano

About Judith Santano

My passions lie in conservation, environmental education, and equitable access to the natural world. I want to exist at the intersection of ecology and advocacy in order to serve historically excluded communities. My research focuses on avian mediated ecological recovery with a focus on hummingbirds, pollination networks, and restoration. I feel that my most important work is anytime I\'m teaching - from the classroom to the field. I hope to make people fall in love with the earth, even if its just for a moment. When I\'m not working, you can find me at a concert, appreciating the outdoors, cooking a meal with loved ones, or talking about how cool hummingbirds are!

   I serve as a Board Member for Earthwatch Institute, an environmental non-profit that focuses on supporting scientific research, citizen science, and environmental education through research expeditions. As an alumni of the Earthwatch Ignite Fellowship and a former Education Program Intern, I provide insight into student needs, as well as how the organization can improve diversity and inclusion efforts, and make these experiences more accessible.
