ABOUT JUDITH OLSON

In my current role, I help shape the strategy and approach to quantum technologies and external collaborations. I aid in project execution and proposal development across multiple research areas with a focus on semiconductor quantum computing and atomic/optical/photonic systems related to quantum sensing and networks.I excel at bringing together groups of scientists, engineers, managers, technicians, and other company resources to assimilate program information, provide support, and synthesize reports, summaries, analyses, review articles, and presentations on technical, manufacturing, and productization progress within a quantum-tech research group. Participating in conferences to communicate and assimilate information to the quantum community is a specialty I have honed over many years of similar participation. I have produced test documentation for multiple multi-million dollar programs aimed at improving TRL and MRL of quantum components and systems. One of my favorite activities is roadmapping quantum technology development paths with a focus on the commercial pull predicted by economic models and market analyses. Previously, I led the product development and strategy for the optical atomic clocks portfolio, which provides high-precision timing solutions for various industries and sectors, such as telecommunications, navigation, defense, and astronomy. I contributed to the research and innovation of optical atomic clocks, laser stabilization, frequency metrology, atom interferometry, and time transfer and synchronization systems. I also collaborated with cross-functional teams of engineers, scientists, and business partners to deliver high-quality products and services to our customers and stakeholders. As a product manager, I leveraged my technical expertise, leadership skills, and customer focus to create value and impact with optical atomic clocks. I am passionate about advancing the science and technology of optical frequency standards and applications, and I am always eager to learn new skills and explore new challenges. As a research group leader, I brought in and executed on multiple new government contracts totaling >$15M.
