   Our mission is to grow the fiber economy in the southern appalachian region within 100 miles of the project’s Asheville headquarters, by connecting fiber artists, fiber animal farmers and small scale fiber mills and processing businesses with markets. I led the creation and launch of this innovative nonprofit in 2011 and served as Chair and CEO from 2011 until 2017, and again as Chairman from 2020 to present. Our membership grew four-fold in 3 years, we achieved 501(c)3 status, and now hold over 100 classes and special events each year.
