His mandate covers the full spectrum of regional and market-level tax activities, including direct, indirect, and customs matters, with a focus on ensuring alignment with PMI’s global tax strategy, governance framework, and transformation agenda.Juan plays a central role in the design, execution, and continuous improvement of PMI’s tax operations model, ensuring compliance excellence, process standardization, and digitalization across all markets in the region. He oversees the timely and accurate delivery of compliance, reporting, and forecasting obligations, and drives automation and efficiency initiatives that enhance control and transparency.He is accountable for the strategic management of tax audits and litigation, the negotiation of advance pricing agreements (APAs), and customs and tax rulings with local authorities, consistently achieving favorable outcomes that protect and optimize PMI’s global tax position.In partnership with cross-functional stakeholders—including Finance, Legal, Supply Chain, and Operations—Juan ensures tax is effectively integrated into business decision-making. His leadership extends to supporting PMI’s new manufacturing footprint in the U.S, managing indirect tax and customs matters critical to the company’s transformation toward a smoke-free future.Known for his collaborative leadership style and operational rigor, Juan champions a culture of accountability, agility, and continuous improvement, driving high performance and capability development across a diverse, multinational tax team.
