As partner and director of landscape architecture at Urban Studio, I coordinate and supervise every aspect of our landscape projects, from Concept and Schematic Design, to Design Development, Construction Documentation, and Construction Administration. Our main focus is to enhance the natural potential of a site leveraging on its existing and native vegetation, local materials, and socio-urban context. Our expertise and projects range from the arid and semi-arid environments of Northern Mexico, to the humid rainforests of the Península Yucateca.

ABOUT JUAN JOSÉ R.
My work combines research and practice focussed on making cities more diverse and socio-environmentally sustainable. My PhD research analysed the impacts of urban development and home gardening practices on the production of natures in cities. In our design practice we focus on implementing architectural, urban and landscape strategies that are cost-effective, biodiverse, and that resonate with the communities that they are developed for. My biggest passion lies in furthering our understanding about how culture, society and the environment help shape and are in turn shaped by the natural and constructed landscape.
