Part of DNV’s Newbuilding team in Italy, contributing to the delivery of shipbuilding projects across all phases, from planning to final handover.Newbuilding (NB) ActivitiesActively involved in survey and verification activities throughout the full project lifecycle, from design review and construction follow-up to delivery and close-out.Support regional newbuilding projects during critical stages, including pre-delivery, harbour acceptance tests (HAT), and sea trials (SAT).Witness and verify testing and commissioning processes to ensure compliance with class rules, statutory requirements, and contractual specifications.Review and endorse technical documentation, inspection records, and test reports, ensuring full traceability and compliance.Liaise with shipyards, owners, flag administrations, equipment suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth coordination and regulatory alignment.Certification of Materials and Components (CMC)Perform inspection, certification, and verification of materials, components, and equipment at manufacturers’ facilities across Italy, under both class and non-class regimes.Assess manufacturing processes, including welding procedures, material traceability, and compliance with approved specifications and international standards.Oversee and witness factory acceptance tests (FAT), ensuring conformity with technical and safety requirements.Provide technical guidance to manufacturers and clients on quality assurance, certification processes, and regulatory compliance.Support continuous improvement by monitoring regulatory updates, industry developments, and emerging technologies in shipbuilding and materials certification.

Later, I moved into shipbuilding as a Newbuildings Technical Superintendent, taking a hands-on approach from design through to delivery.Now, I’m embracing a new adventure as Newbuilding & CMC Surveyor at DNV, diving deeper into quality, safety, and innovation, while continuously learning, sharing knowledge, and daring to solve the complex challenges of modern maritime projects.
