ABOUT JUAN MARIA FARINA

I am a Cardiologist, Clinical Research Scientist, and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Mayo Clinic Arizona\'s Cardiovascular Medicine and Cardiothoracic Surgery Departments.I earned my MD diploma from the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina. I completed my postgraduate training with a Cardiology Residency, a Fellowship in Cardiovascular Imaging, and a Master’s in Pulmonary Vascular Diseases at the University of Bologna in Italy. My research training included a completed two-year Research Fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Arizona. I have worked in clinical activities for more than 10 years in both inpatient and outpatient settings. In 2023, I joined Mayo Clinic in Arizona as a Clinical Research Scientist. In my current position, I collaborate with several Principal Investigators in the Cardiovascular Medicine and Cardiothoracic Surgery Departments and oversee the work of the Research Fellows and Trainees. I have vast experience in both industry-initiated and academic-initiated clinical trials. I\'ve published more than 100 scientific articles and more than 20 book chapters. My primary research interests are cardiovascular imaging, preventive cardiology, artificial intelligence, and cardiovascular surgery. I also currently serve as the Director of the Emerging Leaders Program in the Interamerican Society of Cardiology.
