ABOUT JUAN VISTRO

I am a mission-aligned engineering leader who builds human-centered systems, technical and organizational, grounded in ethics, cultural awareness, and thoughtful use of emerging tools. My career spans full-stack engineering, nonprofit program leadership, UX strategy, and community-centered technology. Across these domains, my through-line has remained consistent: care for people, clarity in systems, and a commitment to technology that strengthens rather than harms.Over the past seven years, I’ve developed scalable applications in Python, React, Angular, Node, and cloud-native architectures. I’ve led cross-departmental engineering initiatives, improved UX across complex internal ecosystems, and built AI-assisted testing workflows that reduced code burden while increasing functional coverage. During periods of transition, I’ve stepped in as an interim engineering manager, running ceremonies, coaching engineers, and ensuring delivery continuity.But my leadership foundation comes from outside traditional tech. I directed nonprofit programs, built community-driven infrastructures, and co-led the longest-running Asian-American open mic on the East Coast. These experiences shaped my approach to engineering leadership: people first, systems second, tools third. I design teams and platforms with psychological safety, inclusion, and mission-aligned purpose at the center.Today, I use AI intentionally — as a way to reduce waste, improve developer clarity, accelerate iteration, and enhance human capacity. My focus is on responsible integration, transparent decision-making, and thoughtful coaching around new workflows.I’m committed to growing as an engineering leader who can nurture teams, design resilient systems, and guide organizations through thoughtful, human-centered technological transformation. My long-term focus is on engineering leadership roles where clarity, systems thinking, cultural awareness, and principled decision-making are central to the work.
