ABOUT JOHN STOBART

I’ve been fortunate enough to have been involved in a wide and varied range of occupations during my working life.By trade I’m a mechanical engineer after serving my apprenticeship in a machine shop tool room for Braime Pressings in Leeds. I decided to pursue a career more in sales and business development soon after and became more of a technical sales professional selling environmental products and landscaping materials. In 2010 I set up my own company as a specialist environmental contractor supplying and installing environmentally enhancing and beneficial products for living roofs. In 2016 I broke the business up and sold the company, and returned to work as a project development consultant involved in Biosciences, developing new and innovative insect pest control products with some of the worlds leading bio scientists. In 2019 - unfortunately the company I worked for was acquired by another organisation who chose not to pursue our line of development and my position became redundant. I then went on to work for a local hospice as a fundraiser and community engagement representative, and at the same time followed my passion for cycling and completed several huge personal challenges raising money for mental health charities whilst also setting up a small, cycle servicing and repairs business.I passed my LGV Class 2 license in 2016, as a back up plan before taking on the project management position. Truck driving was always something I wanted to do as it was my late Father’s line of work too. In 2021, I decided to complete my training and obtained my Driver CPC and my Class 1 license, and I’m now living the dream as a Class 1 lorry driver. The transport and logistics industry has always fascinated me and in one way or another, I have always been involved in it. One day, I may aspire to owning my own truck and trailer, but in the mean time - I’m enjoying every minute of my new found calling. Being somewhat of an opportunistic type of person, and a natural problem solver, I often see opportunities where I could benefit the company and their customers by being more involved and by using initiatives and a joined up approach, together we could increase efficiencies, enhance the service we provide and exceed expectations. I’m looking forward to delivering in my next challenge.
