ABOUT JIONGCONG JAE RUAN

Thanks for visiting my profile—I’m Jae Ruan, a junior majoring in Finance at the University of Illinois Chicago. I’m drawn to finance because it’s not just about numbers-it’s about preparation, judgment, and managing risk when decisions actually matter.I spent much of my life around athletics, especially basketball and later boxing, and those experiences strongly shape how I think about business. Basketball taught me that you don’t take the shot every possession. You prepare, read the situation, and when the moment matters, you step up and take responsibility. I approach finance the same way-doing the work behind the scenes, understanding risk, and being willing to make the call when it counts.At UIC, I’ve applied that mindset through leadership roles in student government and Alpha Kappa Psi, where I’ve coordinated teams, organized initiatives, and followed through on commitments. Being in Chicago has also given me exposure to professionals across finance and consulting, helping me connect classroom learning to real-world decision-making.I’m driven by curiosity, connection, and continuous improvement-values that guide how I approach both finance and life. I’m always eager to learn from others, take on new challenges, and grow into a leader who builds meaningful, sustainable value through thoughtful analysis, strong communication, and disciplined execution.
