The 1984 Olympic games left an indelible impression upon me. At 15, I was mesmerized as athletes like Mary Lou Retton, Mitch Gaylord, Carl Lewis and Edwin Moses grasped the gold medal. What did greatness take? Only they knew the true cost…the countless hours of practice, wins, losses, doubts, pain and obstacles. What if we ALL had greatness inside of us? Of the Olympic Games, the greatest feat to me was Joanie Benoit crossing the finish line having ran 26.2 miles, in bare feet -that was like 2 towns away! I started running. Just 14 months later, I ran the Chicago Marathon with the olympian! While I never even got a glimpse of her, we crossed the same finish line. Proving to myself, the impossible can be possible if you dream, work and focus. What a wonderful experience to carry with me into adulthood. I believe the things I’ve accomplished in my life reveal that same gritty character. For the past decade, I have passionately developed a Speech Formula that helps people design and deliver an audience-centered speech that truly connects people. Seeing countless clients and students overcome obstacles to communicate their way to success using this system, I formed the International Public Speaking Institute where we create smart tools to help people deliver their best speech ever. Nothing thrills me more than to see someone use their voice to share their greatness. My Chicago Marathon medal still inspires me to reach higher.    Manage the public speaking general education course at the main campus of Barry University. Coordinate the adjuncts, including scheduling and support their efforts to keep courses in-line with University mission and objectives. Nurture and develop students to deliver dynamic speeches and consciously communicate the messages they wish to send. Faculty advisor for Smart Talks a campus organization inspired by Ted Talks. We meet monthly and enjoy a few Ted Talks but engage in our own conversation after hearing the speakers ideas. Students are able to listen and share their ideas about important issues happening in the world around them.
