ABOUT JOSE R. SERRANO-LOPEZ
Since my early days, I was fascinated by engineering and complex systems. I studied Electrical Engineering at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez (UPRM), where I majored in Power Systems. I worked at Hamilton Sundstrand as a Quality Engineer and Failure Analyst where I learned about Lean Manufacturing principles and product and process reliability. I also had to determine the root cause of airplane part failures by means of electrical characterization, visual Inspection, design of experiments, analysis, or a mix of all. I got some great feedback from immediate supervisors. After accepting a job offer at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) as a System Engineer for Navy Submarine SONAR Systems, I had to relocate to an unknown place with no family and friends where the main language was not my native language. That was a huge challenge. But I embrace challenges, and thus I\'m still here, after all these years, adapted to my new life and with a solid career as a young engineer. I am blessed to work on the most complex and interesting system I could possibly think of: a US Navy Submarine. The scope and impact the work we do has on the real-world is something that excites me. I\'ve also had great feedback of my work here.I\'ve also been fortunate to satisfy my appetite for continuous learning through multiple Navy/DoD-sponsored training courses and getting my Master of Science in Systems Engineering (MSSE) at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI).Throughout my career, I have had so many wonderful experiences and opportunities that have shaped me into the professional I am today: a determined success-driven problem solver that can take a challenge with confidence and thrive. A believer of continuous learning and improvement, I\'m always looking for more opportunities to strengthen my knowledge base and further my career by means of value-added performance-Connect with me on Linked In!Twitter:@JRSLEngEmail: j••••••••@gmail.com
